Objective:
Upon completion of this lesson the successful student will be able to understand how to add description to sentences to benefit the reader.
Description:
The class will gather around the board as the teacher creates a topic for a story. The teacher writes the first sentence on the board. Each student will have the chance to make up a sentence that would go along with the story. After the story is complete the class will look at each sentence and try to add more description. The teacher will make copies of the story for the children to take home.
SOLs:
1.1 The student will continue to demonstrate growth in the use of oral language.
1.3 The student will adapt or change oral language to fit the situation.
1.4 The student will orally identify and manipulate phonemes in syllables and multisyllabic words.
1.5 The student will apply knowledge of how print is organized and read.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed informally. The students will be observed while participating in the class story.
