Introduction and Description

This unit plan is more geared towards first grade.  The types of Literature that will be involved are Dr. Suess stories as well as the history of Dr. Suess.  Literature is focused on with a wide variety of activities.

*The activity most emphasized is reading aloud.  The stories that will be read aloud are Fox in Socks, Green Eggs and Ham, Gerald McBoing Boing, and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

*The children will gather around the board where they will take turns creating a sentence for a class story.  At the end of the story each sentence will be looked at and the class as a whole will decide if more detail could be added.

*The children will make stick puppets of foxes in socks and act out the story.

*The children will create a story about talking to someone.  Then the children will make up funny words that they will have to use in place of words in their stories.

*The children will design T-shirts that they will orally describe to the class.
