Sexual Harassment

Sexual Harassment is unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature which interferes with the education or work of others.

Examples of Sexual Harassment may include:

• Subtle or not so subtle pressure for sexual activity
• Unnecessary brushes or touches
• Offensive sexual graffiti
• Jokes or disparaging remarks that degrade someone’s gender as a whole
• Unwelcome attempted or actual kissing or fondling
• Coerced sexual intercourse, where coercion is implied or threatened
• Whistling
• Obscene gestures
• Requests for sexual favors in exchange for a better grade, promotion, etc.
• Action taken against a person in retaliation for reporting sexual harassment

If you believe that you are or have been sexually harassed:

• Understand that it is not your fault
• Report it to someone who can discuss this situation knowledgeably
• Do not be intimidated by the threat of retaliation
