The VRU is sponsoring two Collegiate Women's select sides this spring. One will be a Senior Select Side open to all women playing for VRU colleges and universities that meet the requirements below. The other will be a Developmental Select Side limited to freshmen and sophomores. Tryout, practice and match information is given below.

Player Eligibility Requirements are:

1. Your club is in good standing with the VRU and the RSV.
2. You are a full time undergraduate student in good standing with your respective college or university.
3. You first entered college in Fall 1993 or later.
4. You are working on your first bachelor's degree.
5. You are CIPP registered.
6. You commit to attend the tryout, practice and match. I MIGHT make exceptions for extenuating circumstances, and will consider requests on a case-by-case basis.
7. You submit the accompanying registration form no later than March 19.

The select side events consist of:

Sunday March 22. Beginning at 11:00am. Initial tryouts and practice. This will be held in Richmond. Jon Blatt will tell you the location and provide directions. I expect players to be dressed, taped, and ready to start at that time. I hope to be finished by 3 or 4pm at the latest. Make sure you bring a full rugby kit. Bring a snack, too.

Saturday April 18. Beginning in the late afternoon at William & Mary. Practice for both Senior and Developmental sides. I'll let you know the exact time later.

Sunday April 19. VRU vs. PRU senior side match at the Sorensen Tournament at William & Mary. Developmental side match against another team yet to be determined. Match times will be provided at a later date.

Expenses. In the future, (at least for now, these things go back and forth!) select side play will be in the fall after the Ed & Sandy Lee Tournament. We have decided to have a match this spring so that our graduating seniors would have one more opportunity to play at the select side level. Unfortunately, this year's budget will not fully support both spring and fall select side play. Therefore, since the spring program is "extra" and the matches are "home", I have decided not to provide reimbursements for participation this spring. This will preserve funds for lodging, etc. for away matches in the fall. Thanks for your understanding.
