Due to conflict with a city wide softball tournament, the long running Monk Vaughan Rugby 7s tournament sponsored by the United Rugby Club of Richmond will be held Saturday May 31st at Dorey Park in Richmond VA starting at 9am with the championship approximately 2 or 3pm the same day.
Seven minute halves, ten minute halves in the championship, with two full size rugby pitches (minus a few feet in the ingoal area). The party is scheduled for Castle Thunder (18th & E Main street) later that afternoon (food and drink) in the heart of the Shockoe Bottom district of downtown Richmond.

Pete Sweet ran the tournament for almost 20 years and deserves congratulations for a very competitive one day rugby event which is widely recognized on the East Coast.
Next years event will be Saturday May 30, 1998 same place, same time which works around the Richmond Largest Softball tournament scheduled the Memorial Day weekend the week before.
