Homework 4

Do problem 5.64 from your book with the following modifications.

a) use the entity names MOVIE, THEATER, and SHOWING (your author suggests the name SHOW_TIME but entity names should not reflect an attribute so we will change this to SHOWING). Use VISIO to construct your ERD and name your Visio file h4a.vsd Validate your ERD by constructing a series of tables in EXCEL that would represent an implementation of your model. Make sure your EXCEL tables include table names and include sufficient sample data to articulate the relationships shown in your ERD. Name your spreadsheet h4a.xls.

b) Make a copy of your Visio diagram from part (a) and rename it to h4b.vsd. Modify your diagram given the part (b) instructions of the problem. Do the same thing for your spreadsheet: Copy it, rename the copy to h4b.xls and extend the sample data tables to comply with the part (b) instructions.

c) Skip part C.

d) Make a copy of your Visio diagram from part (b) and rename it to h4d.vsd. Modify your diagram given the part (d) instructions of the problem. Do the same thing for your spreadsheet: Copy it, rename the copy to h4d.xls and extend the sample data tables to comply with the part (d) instructions.

e) Skip part E

Submit your 3 Visio files and three spreadsheets to the dropbox by creating and using and RU04 folder. Have your files submitted by midnight on Thursday, October 6^th.
