Homework for Physics 330

Homework #7: due Friday October 31 by 5:00pm

Note: This homework has several superscripts and subscripts out of necessity, so you'll need to print this out on a printer that shows this. Or, be sure to correct your own printout if you do this on a printer that has trouble with such things.

  1. problem 6.10. Hint: Ignore their hint. This problem is very easy when you remember what I showed you about how to exactly calculate the infinite sum ∑n=0 e-nx. And you all know that hf=energy so be careful of your units.
  2. problem 6.12 (Note: If this problem doesn't make an impression on you about the universe, then you're not thinking about the Big Picture here.)
  3. problem 6.13
  4. problem 6.15 (Note that parts (a) and (c) are two different calculations and they're present to drive home a point.

That's all for homework #7.
