TRAVEL STUDY - DESIGN

DSN 366. Travel Study - Design
Credit Hours (1-12).

Prerequisites: Permission of Instructor

Academic study involving domestic and/or international travel. May be repeated for credit for a maximum of 12 hours.

The detailed description is dependent upon the nature and location of the particular travel study offered.

  1. Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

The specific conduct of the course is also dependent upon the nature and location of the travel study. However, the course usually consists of pre-travel research and preparation, the travel experience itself, and post-travel reflection and evaluation.

  1. Goals and Objectives

The specific goals and objectives of the travel study vary according to the nature of the experience offered. In general, the objective of this course is for participating students to demonstrate:

  • Familiarity with important aspects of the apparel and interior design professions and the industries with which they are related.
  • Familiarity with events and sites (markets, trade shows, showrooms, museums, exhibits, factories, design studios, significant installations, historical sites, etc.) not available in the local community.
  1. Assessment Measures

Assessment measures utilized may vary, but generally include participation in pre-travel organizational meetings and research, participation in the travel experience, and participation in post-travel reflection and evaluation activities. Other assessment measures will depend upon the exact nature of the trip.
