Art 102. Art Foundations
Two hours lecture, demonstration or critique; three hours studio .
Prerequisite: Art 101 (3).
Designed for the interior design major. Continues the study of concepts and techniques begun in Art 101 (3-D).
- Detailed Description of Content of Course
The purpose of this course is to continue to develop the student's awareness of the underlying abstraction inherent in all forms of visual art. References will be made to Art 101 and 3-D problems will also be employed.
1. 3-D space, line, surface visual problems
2. 2-D visual problems
3. Linear perspective studies
- Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Students will learn visual relationships through visual exercises and class critiques. Individual attention is given to each student in the lab section of the course.
- Goals and Objectives of the Course
Upon completion of the course requirements, the student will implement advanced constructions of design principles in their art work:
- Advanced visually effective combinations of the formal elements of art and design, i.e., space, line, value, etc.
- Sophisticated individual expression.
- Assessment Measures
Graded assignments may include weekly visual exercises, mid-term and final on art concepts and critical analysis assessment.
- Other Course Information
Students may be assigned library research and gallery visits.
