ITEC 490. Senior Seminar
Credit Hours (1).
Prerequisite: Senior standing in Computer Science and Technology or Information Science and Systems.
A seminar series designed to aid in the transition from the university to work. Includes topics in resume preparation, research, and ethics. Students who have received credit for CPSC 490 may not receive credit for ITEC 490.

1. Introduction
2. Resume preparation and current job market discussion
3. Discussion of professional ethics
4. Current topics of interests --- open discussion
5. Presentations of current topics
- Detailed Description of Conduct of Course.
Students attend a seminar on resume preparation and job interviewing skills at the Career Services Center and prepare their own resumes. They give two brief reports on current topics, write one longer expository paper based on library research and make an oral presentation based on their paper. The longer presentations are open to the university public.
- Goals and Objectives of the Course:
1. To introduce the student to some topics of current research interest in the field of computer science.
2. To enhance the students' skills in library research.
3. To give the students practice in expository writing.
4. To enhance the students' ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations.
5. To teach the student how to prepare an effective resume and compete successfully in the job market.
6. To help the student to develop a viable code of professional ethics.
- Assessment Measures
The student is graded on the depth, analytical scope, and accuracy of his research, and on the overall effectiveness of the written papers and of the oral presentation.
