COMM 460. Special Topics
One-four hours lecture/performance (1-4).

Prerequisite: 45 hours of college credit completed or permission of instructor.

Emphasis on selected topics in communication Not covered in current course offerings. Can be taken more than once for a maximum of eight hours credit.

  1. Detailed Description of Content of Course

Content varies from offering to offering. Topics tend to deal with contemporary issues such as the rhetoric of protest in South Africa, world information order, etc.

  1. Detailed Description of the Conduct of Course

Conduct of the course will vary, depending on the course topic. Some subjects may require a performance approach; other subjects may be approached with a lecture/discussion format.

  1. Goals and Objectives of Course

The objective of this course is to provide an opportunity to address topical issues within the communication discipline. The class is particularly important in providing students with the opportunity to apply general communication theory to the analysis of contemporary events.

  1. Assessment Measures

Assessment will vary from semester to semester, but will generally involve writing papers and participating in group projects. Examinations may also used.
