Curriculum Change and New Course Proposal Information

Undergraduate Catalog and Curriculum Review Committee

November 3, 2006

Members Present: C. Hines, S. Van Patten, W. Saubert, H. Lee, W. Hageman Smith, L. Cubbison, M. Shelor, B. Brainaird, F. Doss, P. Shoemaker (representative for E. Dore)

Guests Present: Representative from the Business Department (S. Beach), Representative from the Education Department (P. Shoemaker) & Representative from Registrars Office (M. Brunner)

 

I. Meeting called to order

II. Previously Tabled Proposals Reviewed

  • Accounting, Finance & Business Law

FINC.01 – New Course

    • Creation of FINC 351, ‘Personal Financial Planning’.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

FINC.02 – New Course

    • Creation of FINC 451, ‘Advanced Financial Planning’.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

III. New Proposals Reviewed

  • Accounting, Finance & Business Law

FINC.04 – New Course

    • Creation of FINC 481, ‘Global Portfolio Wealth Management’.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

FINC.05 - Course Prerequisite Change

    • Addition of FINC 331 as a prerequisite for FINC 335.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

FINC.06 – Program Revision

    • Rename major track and Addition of four (4) courses to available electives list.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

FINC.07 – Program Revision

    • Addition of Financial Planning as a major track.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

FINC.08 – Program Revision

    • Addition of International Finance as a major track.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.
  • Management & Marketing

MKTG.04 – New Course

    • Creation of MKTG 481, ‘Marketing Study Abroad’.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.

MKTG.05 – Program Revision (Changes to Description, Addition of Electives, & Changes in General Wording)

    • Changes general wording and Addition of new course MKTG 481 to elective list.
    • Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approval.
  • Teacher Education & Leadership

EDUC.01 –New Course

    • Creation of EDUC 200, ‘Exploring Teaching’.
    • Proposal was supported and will be forwarded to Dr. Lerch for final approvalpending: a reduction in proposed credits from three (3) down to two (2) and addition of experience hours to equal a total of ninety (90) experiential hours.

IV. Next meeting to be scheduled upon receipt of 8 or more proposals
