Three semester
hours/Fifteen hours clinical practicum (3).
Prerequisites: NURS 346 or permission of instructor
This clinically intensive externship provides the student the opportunity for practical application of concepts and therapeutic interventions related to care of frail older adults.
The skills application and content of this course are consistent with all major gerontological nursing textbooks. The major focus of the course is on assessment and nursing interventions for frail older adults with complex needs who reside in a long-term care facility. In addition to the clinical experiences, group seminars focus on topics relevant to care of the frail older adult.

Group seminars focus on issues relevant to care of the frail older adult.

4. Clinical Logs
5. Audio-visual aids
1. Provide culturally sensitive and holistic nursing care for frail older adults.
2. Demonstrate application of concepts and therapeutic interventions for frail older adults.
3. Explain the influence of health care policy on health care delivery and quality of care for frail older adults in the health care setting.
4. Explain the need for and use of research findings related to health care delivery for frail older adults.
5. Collaborate with both formal and informal caregivers in the care of the frail older adults.
