MUSC205. Music with the Disabled
Two hours lecture (2).
Application of music as therapy with the major disability categories; serves as a preparation for music therapy clinical practicum requirements.
The purpose of this course is to establish a working relationship with the major disability areas, their characteristics and symptoms with traditional music therapy applications. These music therapy applications are researched from texts, journals and in class projects. The structure works toward a knowledge base for future core courses in music therapy. Course contents include:
An informal approach emphasizing lecture and discussion will be employed.
At the conclusion of the course, the student will:
Demonstrate a working relationship between disabilities areas and music therapy techniques.
Graded assignments will include exams, written paper and assignments and participation and attendance.
