MUSC202:302:402. Clinical Orientation in Music Therapy
One hour lecture, One hour laboratory and one-two hours observation/participation (1:1:1) .

Prerequisite (MUSC202:302): MUSC102.

Prerequisite (MUSC402): Upper level standing as a Music Therapy major.

This organized and structured experience in a clinical setting involves observation and participation in a clinical setting under the supervision of a board certified music therapist, and may be taken again for credit.

  1. Detailed Description of Course Content

The purpose of this course is for the student to practice and implement music therapy techniques in a clinical setting under the supervision of an MT-BC. A variety of topics will be covered over the course of the students time in all levels of the class. These will include goal and objective writing, progress notes, charting, clinical settings, treatment teams.

Lecture will be employed as well as a laboratory/experiential format for preparation of student music therapy field placements.

Students will fulfill required field placement hours and prepare a student log documenting clinical experiences. Students will be responsible for in class music experiences during lab times.
