MUSC102. Fundamentals of Music Therapy
Two hours lecture (2).
Principles and practice in the field of music therapy. Required of all music therapy majors and open to students in other curricula with permission of instructor.
The purpose of this course is to survey basic literature in music therapy, basic assumptions and practices, and to orient the student to clinical applications of music as therapy. Course content will include:
An informal lecture format will be employed including opportunities for experiential music therapy. Research and writing of papers will be emphasized.
At the conclusion of the course, the student will:
Graded assignments will include tests, written papers, participation and attendance.
