ADVANCED BALLET
DNCE 405. Advanced Ballet
Three credit hours(3).
Six hours technique.
Barre and centre practice, including adagio and allegro techniques on an advanced level. May be taken multiple times for credit.
1. Barre
As in all ballet classes, the sequence of the barre work remains essentially the same whether the student is a beginner or an accomplished professional, but the exercises become more complex and have varying speed as the student advances. For a more complete listing of the barre exercises, please see the course syllabus for DNCE 105.
2. Centre
a. Turns
(1) pirouettes (more in number)

More complex and with multiple turns; including variations from the classical repertoire.
A professional approach in which the classical theory and technique of ballet is taught to and practiced by the advanced student.
At the conclusion of this course, the student will:
1. Demonstrate technical competency on an advanced level.
2. Execute the advanced ballet combinations, steps and poses with musicality and projection.
Assessment measures may include direct observation, digital/video taping for analysis, class attendance, practical and written examinations.
