Curriculum

The students identified with the Counseling Program will be required to maintain professional competence, behavior, and judgment throughout the program. The students will be evaluated each semester by the counseling committee and must receive a positive evaluation each semester by the counseling psychology faculty in order to remain in the program and to enroll in practicums or internships. In order for a student to commence an internship (PSYC 798), the student must be approved by the Counseling Option Faculty, be in good academic standing (i.e., a GPA of at least 3.00 in all graduate psychology courses) and have completed 30 graduate semester hours in psychology which must include the following: PSYC 610, PSYC 612*, PSYC 640*, PSYC 641*, PSYC 642*, PSYC 643 or PSYC 644, and PSYC 685. (The student must have a 3.0 GPA in all psychology courses before enrolling in an internship and must have received a B or higher in each class marked with an asterisk).  Students receiving 3 C's will be dismissed from the counseling psychology graduate program.  In order to fulfill the counseling psychology degree requirements students must complete 51 semester hours of graduate work in the following courses.
