Inter-club Competition
After defeating Tri-Beta in a bowling tournament on Oct 27, SPS/Phys & Astro are now 4-0 in inter-club activities.

Lecture Series
Our Fall 2006 Lecture Series kicked off with a talk from cinematographer David Gaynes. Gaynes is developing the upcomming documentary, "Save the Hubble".
Our second speaker will be our own Dr. Rhett Herman. Professor Herman will discuss the nature of Renormalization, on November 10th.

The Wall (ONGOING): The RU Physics & Astronomy Club, in cooperation with the RU Art Guild, is working the paint a timeline of the universe on the wall near the planetarium.
SPRING 2002 SEMESTER ACTIVITIES
Dr. Tsunefumi Tanaka (Feb 21): Dr. Tsunefumi Tanaka, of Radford University, will be giving a lecture on his own research involving time travel.
Meteorologist Speaker (Mar 28): A meteorologist will speak about the science of their job.
Night of Observing (Apr 5): The RU Physics & Astronomy club will be hosting an overnight camping trip to Selu where we will be able to use the Questar 7" telescope that is located in the barn at Selu.
FALL 2001 SEMESTER ACTIVITIES
Dr. Paul Geissler (Nov 2 in Reed 201 @ 4 PM ): Dr.
Paul Geissler, of the Kitt Peak National Observatory, will give a lecture
entitled "Worlds of Ice and Fire: Discoveries of the
Galileo Missions to Jupiter." In his lecture, Dr.
Geissler will summarize what we have learned from the Galileo spacecraft, with
focus on Io's volcanic nature and the possibility of an underground ocean on
Europa. Refreshments will be held in Reed 119 @ 3:15 PM.
Green Bank National Radio Observatory Trip (Jan 18-20): The RU Physics & Astronomy Club will be traveling to Green Bank, WV, to use the 40' radio telescope for the weekend. Hopefully we will be able to tour the grounds and at least take a look at the 100m scope. Any recommendations on possible targets is appreciated.
