Vice President for Finance and Administration

DUTIES/
RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Vice President for Finance and Administration reports directly to the President and serves as the university's chief financial officer.  Working with the senior management team of the university, the Vice President is responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning, and administrative oversight for the financial operations of the university. This position also provides oversight of University Services, Facilities Management, and the department of Facilities, Planning and Construction.  Over the next several years, the Vice President will provide leadership for the most ambitious capital improvement plan in the history of the institution, including construction and renovation projects totaling more than $211 million dollars.  These capital projects include, among others, a signature building for the College of Business and Economics, a new Science & Technology Building, a new Student Fitness Center, new residence halls, and expansion of the Student Center.


QUALIFICATIONS:  

The successful candidate should have a master’s degree in a related field and be a proven leader with a record of progressively responsible and senior-level experience in overseeing financial functions within higher education, state government, or an organization of significant size and complexity.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a capacity to provide a clear vision; set strategic directions that support those in the strategic plan; grasp the complex challenges confronting the institution; and communicate and work effectively with various university constituencies, the Board of Visitors, the executive branch of state government, and the state legislature.  Significant experience in financial leadership positions within Virginia government strongly preferred.  Experience in leading capital construction efforts highly desired.


COMPENSATION:   Salary is commensurate upon qualifications and experience.
