Check and see if your apartment complex or landlord includes all or part of the utilities in your rent. If not, you will need to turn on your utilities and put them in the name of one of the occupants of the residence. If this is the first time you have had utilities in your name, the city will accept a good history report from your parents/guardians utilities.
The fee (if not covered by your landlord) for garbage collection is $13.00 per month. This will be included in your monthly electric and water bill. You can call the Public Works Department at (540) 731-3607 to inquire about he weekly pick up schedule.
