Make Your Own Invitations

Using magazines, newspapers, even old exams you can be creative with your invites.  Pick a theme and carry it our

through your invitations.  Some examples are:

End of Exams (or Semester) Party

Use old exams and tests (make copies if you will need the originals later) and rip them up to make a background for

your invitations.

Fashion Police Party

Cut out pictures of fashion don'ts from old magazines and use them to invite people to a Fashion Police party

where tickets are written for those going against fashion standards.

Ransom Party

Cut out letters from old newspapers or magazines and spell out your invitations like a ransom note.  Make each

person bring ransom (is food, beverages, entertainment) to get in.

Electronic Invitations

Save money on paper and postage - let people know about your party via e-mail.  Some web sites that can help you

do this in creative ways are:

Bring your own

Everyone has heard of a BYOB party - have one with a twist.

BYOS or C or P

Make everyone bring their Silverware or cups or plates.  Its a great way to let people share their personality

(someone might show up with a leopard print plate!) and you don't have to pay for the disposable versions.

BYOM

Have a cookout and have everyone bring their own meat.  This way the most expensive part of the meal is taken

care of by the guest and everyone gets what they want to eat!

Potluck

Make potluck fun.  Assign people to bring things based on their zodiac sign, color of hair, sports team affiliation

or place of birth.  This allows you to help limit getting 15 bags of chips and no dip!  You can also have a no bake

potluck - have everyone bring some type of fast food to share!

Scavenger

Once people get to the party - have them scavenge the neighborhood for food.  Give out lists and see who can

come back with everything they had to scavenge for without spending any money!

Traveling

If you have friends that live near by share the costs.  Have appetizers at one house, move to the next for salad,

the next for the main course, etc.  You can even have a theme to follow (international foods, certain colors, etc.)
