Radford University Student Government Association Important Notice about Potential Rental Deception Recent reports indicate that someone has used university internet lease boards to scam money from people leasing properties. It is advised that when conducting rental transactions, please use extra caution if activity seems at all suspicious. Some examples of suspicious activities include contact indicating that someone wishes to lease your property without ever seeing it. Never issue refunds for overpayment on security deposits, first month’s rent, or utilities until you are certain that the initial check you received has cleared. It is best to return a check drafted for the incorrect amount and ask for a new check to be written. If your rental or property is in the city of Radford and you suspect fraudulent activity, please contact the Radford City Department of Police at (540) 731-3624.
