Welcome to Radford University!

We’re sorry we missed you at this summer’s orientation programs, but we haven’t forgotten about you. We share your concern about registering for fall classes, getting moved in and becoming acquainted with your new college.

Beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28th and continuing on Friday, August 29th, our orientation staff will greet you and take you through a concise, yet informative orientation, advising and registration program. We will have our trained staff ready to answer your questions as you embark on your Radford University career.

It is extremely important for you to attend Fall Orientation. We are here to help ensure your successful transition to RU, but we need your attendance at this program to make it work.

What to Expect

You can expect to be academically advised and registered for an appropriate class schedule to begin your first semester at RU. A number of student Orientation Assistants and Faculty Advisors will be on hand to ensure your questions will be answered.

Note: You will be required to pay all tuition and fees, room and board charges at the time of registration.

Parent/Guardian Program

We will have an Information Session following the opening welcome to answer any questions your parent/guardian(s) might have as they bring you to school and Fall Orientation. They are welcome to stay through dinner on Thursday, August 29th.

UNIV 100-T

New transfers students to Radford University are encouraged to take UNIV 100-T, “Introduction to Radford University,” which is an abbreviated, 1-credit hour course designed specifically to meet your needs as a transfer student. The course meets once a week for the first six weeks of the semester covering a variety of topics including getting involved at RU, transfer student academic transcript evaluation, as well as a detailed orientation to Radford University and the services available to transfer students.

Combining the teaching efforts of a faculty
member and a student instructor, UNIV 100-T is able to create a learning community where friends are made and the Radford University experience is introduced. Perhaps the strongest endorsement of the course comes from students who have taken it. These students strongly recommend the course to new transfer students as a means to learn about the uniqueness of RU and meet others experiencing the transition as a transfer student.

Where to Report

Some new transfer students will be living on campus in one of the University's residence halls. You will receive notice of your room assignment in early August. Because of the special nature of Fall Orientation, you should make arrangements to move into your room on Thursday, August 28th, anytime between noon and 3:30 p.m. Please be sure to check in for the orientation program no later than 3:30 p.m. in Peters Hall. The program will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. in the Bondurant Auditorium in Preston Hall.

Additionally, there is no cost for this program as it is covered by your New Student Matriculation Fee. We hope you will take full advantage of this opportunity to become a part of the Radford University community.

How to Reserve Your Space

Admitted students who have not attended a previous orientation session will be mailed an invitation on July 29th, which includes detailed instructions for our online registration process.

It is important that we know, in advance, your plans to attend Radford University so we can adequately prepare your advising and course selection materials.

If you have not received an invitation to this program, and are planning to attend RU this fall, call our office at (540) 831-5923.
