Assignments:

All papers are to be typewritten, turned in stapled and on the day due. Under no conditions will papers be accepted late! (I loose the late papers  and you get No Credit). Attendance is required due to in class written and oral reactions to readings/videos. Participation will be an integral part of your grade. PERFECT ATTENDANCE WILL ADD 1/2 GRADE TO FINAL! EACH UNEXCUSED ABSENCE RESULTS IN A WHOLE GRADE REDUCTION MAKE CHOICES NOT EXCUSES!!

1.  Group activity      Due on June 30 (Group 1) and July 7(Group 2)          10 points
    Tune in  and listen at 89.1 and 89.3 FM on Saturday from 7am-8am to People's Pharmacy program. Identify what you learned from the program.

Identify a drug and the person who uses or have use and  analyze the drug for untold/side effects, interactions, length of administration and 3 other new/unique findings about the drug.    10 points

3. Group activity 

Identify, watch and review 2 advertisements for Rx drugs from television. Some of the best times to see these is during 6-8pm hours during evening news and Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, CNN shows.    Due July 7   10 points

5. Individual Activity            Due July 23    50 points

Attend an AA/Alanon/ACoA or CoDA meeting. Identify first what you think will happen, then what you found, learned and how this participation affected you, family and friends. While listening, identify the difference in patterns the way males and females talk about their drug addiction. Is there a difference in the manner in which older and younger addicts respond? What was your thinking before/after?  One-two pages.

Develop an open ended transparency using the attached form.    Due July 22  100 points

Extra credit view any 2 of  these videos in class - Spun, Requiem for a Dream, Angela's Ashes, When a Man Loves a Woman, Leaving Las Vegas, Traffic, Blow, Insider, or other drug/alcohol films in last 2 years.
