Required material
Text: First Aid: Responding to Emergencies. Check with the Red Cross office-616 1st street. 639-2140, open daily 9-1. Go through downtown on Norwood past the bridge until you see Arby’s on left. Just past here on left in small office complex.
We have just made a change as to how we will utilize the manikins for classes. Since our materials focus on having people use CPR pocket masks, we are not going to sell packets of manikin faces and lungs - rather, sell them a pocket mask to use for training and an extra valve that they can use when training is over. This gives them a CPR mask that they can then use in an emergency. The pocket mask pack has a fabric case that can clip on a belt, wipes, gloves and directions - it can be used backwards for an infant.
The price will change from $50 for the courses to $43. (includes text, pocket mask and extra valve). We take checks, cash, VISA/MC.
The class is lecture/discussion and practical procedures. American Red Cross certification can be awarded to students passing the entire ARC skills test and receiving 80% or better on the ARC written test. The fee for this is $5.
Your active participation in this class in very important. Contribute with personal examples of first aid and safety issues. Class discussion makes for an enjoyable learning environment. Share your experiences with all of us.
All papers are to be typewritten, turned in stapled and on the day due. Under no conditions will papers be accepted late! (I loose the late papers and you get No Credit). Attendance is required due to in class written and oral reactions to readings/videos. Participation will be an integral part of your grade. PERFECT ATTENDANCE WILL ADD 1/2 GRADE TO FINAL!
