Ten Ways to Help Yourself

 

SOMETMES STRESS SNEAKS UP on us, so it’s important to be proactive when working through difficult times.

 

  1. Eat a well-balanced diet.  Avoid the temptation to grab fast food.\
  2. Go easy on caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods and sweets.
  3. Set aside time for a regular sit-down family dinner.
  4. Watch a funny television show.
  5. Exercise regularly to boost your energy.  Just 30 minutes a day will increase your heart rate.  Incorporate daily activities such as stair-climbing or simple stretches at your desk.
  6. Take a quick walk at lunch.
  7. Take time for reflection.  This may include prayer, relaxation exercises, meditation or listening to music.
  8. Find an outlet for sharing your feelings.  Remember, however, that the way you vent to your spouse may be different than how you want to vent in the workplace.
  9. Get plenty of sleep.
  10. Try to find humor in your situation.
