The Music Educators National Conference

Music Educators National Conference (MENC) works to promote the best possible music education for our nation's children and the advancement of music education as a profession. MENC's objectives are to:

·         Provide information, resources, and services for music education professionals

·         Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas through publications and meetings

·         Promote the perception of music as an important area of study

·         Foster the use of the most effective techniques and resources in music education

·         Investigate curriculum needs and develop resources for effective music teaching

·         Develop criteria, guidelines, and evaluation procedures for music education

·         Encourage excellence in music education by recognizing individual achievements and contributions to the profession

·         Maintain an effective liaison with national organizations and decision-- making bodies that have allied interest in education in music and the other arts.

MENC membership is open to music educators and all others interested in the advancement of music education. The association's 62,000 members (who belong to state music education associations in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Europe) are involved in all levels of music education from preschool through college. In addition, many important companies belong through the Music Industry Conference, and the members of 23 other organizations are associated with MENC in a wide variety of efforts to promote music education.
