Muskrat Habitat

The Muskrat lives all throughout North America.  Abandoned farmland and destruction of trees has aided in the muskrats distribution across the continent.  When farmers began to cultivate land they opened a wide variety of grasslands and pastures where dense forest once thrived leaving the muskrat with more of their favored natural environment.

The muskrat's distribution has also had an impact on Canada.  This once again is mainly due to cultivation and abandonment of farmland that was built in once dense forest.
