Trinity College

Trinity College was founded in 1592 on the site of an Augustinian monastery by Queen Elizabeth I. Trinity was originally a Protestant college and only began taking Catholics after 1970. Some of Trinity's most famous students include playwrights Oliver Goldsmith and Samuel Beckett, and the political writer Edmund Burke. One of the major attractions at Trinity College is the Old Library and the Book of Kells.

The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript that contains the four gospels in Latin. The Book of Kells is thought to be the work of monks from Iona who fled Kells in AD 806. The book was moved to Trinity College in the 17th century and is available for viewing. Everyday a page of the manuscript is turned so that people are able to see a different page every time they visit.

St. Stephen's Green

St. Stephen's Green was enclosed in 1664 and consists of 22 acres. This bust of James Joyce can be found in the park. I found that the park was a nice place to take lunch and just people watch. There were park benches and trails throughout the park and was extremely busy.
