Carrowkeel Sunrise

You don't know "early" until you get up at 3am, drive 45 minutes, hike up a mountain, and stand in the frigid morning air to watch the sunrise. The sunrise was beautiful and we had a great view from the Carrowkeel Tombs, I was just grateful that I had purchased a wool scarf the previous day so that I could wrap my entire head in it.

At Carrowkeel there are fourteen Neolithic passage graves. These tombs were created as entry ways and burial grounds for those entering the afterlife. The Tomb of Queen Maeve is the largest of the Carrowkeel tombs. It is 55 meters wide and 10 meters high.
