Dr. Mekolichick
earned her Ph.D. in Sociology with
a specialization in Social Psychology from Kent State
University. She has
been teaching Sociology since 1994
and has been at Radford
University since 2001.
Her teaching interests are in the areas of research methods, social psychology, applied sociology,
and social problems. Her research
interests are mainly in the areas of self and identity as they apply in social, organizational, community, and business
settings. She is committed to demonstrating the value of sociological theories and methods to her students
by conducting research collaboratively with them as well as the local
community. Dr. Mekolichick is serving
her second term as a Councilor in the national organization Council of
Undergraduate Research (CUR) is a facilitator for the CUR Institutes and is
the Social Science Divisional Representative to the Consulting Committee.
Along with several student researchers, she is working on two community-based
research projects with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia and
the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley
as well as consulting for the Center for Family Health, Inc. Recently, she
published in the official journal for the American Association of Applied and
Clinical Sociology, Journal of Applied Social Science,
along with two students.
