The club entertained the County Agents of Carroll and Grayson Counties at a regular meeting with the State Commissioner of Agriculture as speaker; participated in the Community Improvement Program, contributing $25.00 to the prize award; helped sponsor the Galax Agricultural and Industrial Fair to raise money for the improvement of the public park; held a bicycle race for boys on Halloween; organized a basketball team for boys and girls; organized a baseball team to participate in the County League; sponsored a movie at the Y. M. C. A. for 45 children; furnished a camp for 24 Boy Scouts and another for 15 Girl Scouts; continued to sponsor the Key Club; built a booth at the Fair to furnish cold drinking water and reading material for the patrons; aided in the March of Dimes and the Community Chest Drives, contributing $25.00 to the latter; donated $100.00 to the High School Band for equipment; provided dental care for underprivileged children in the Galax schools; held its third annual camp for 16 boys at Camp Kiwanis; gave a Christmas party for 15 underprivileged boys; participated in the annual activity in which 200 baskets of food, costing $20.00 each were delivered to needy families; aided a rural church by having luncheon meeting with it; and attended church in a body twice during the year.
