Connecting to GISWEB2 Folder

Connecting to your class folder on GISWEB2 server

Each student in GEOG 250 is assigned storage space on a server called GIS2. Please store all your class assignments in this location. Here are a few points about your folder:

  • Your folder is named using your user ID. Only you and I have the ability to write within this folder.
  • Only use this folder for assignments in this class. It will fill up quickly if you add other files
  • This folder is accessible from the Curie Hall lab, so you may do your assignments there, as well

Here’s how to connect to the folder:

Using the mouse, right-click on My Computer and select “Map Network Drive”

In the dialog window that appears, enter the following information:

  • For the drive letter, select “Z”
  • For the folder, type \\gisweb2\geog250
  • Check the Reconnect at Logon option to ensure that it reconnects each time you logon

Please note! You may use any computer in the labs to access your data. Each time you use a new computer, however, you will have to connect to the folder using these steps.

And chances are that even if you check the Reconnect at Logon box, you will still have to do this procedure again occasionally. Always be sure to use the SAME drive letter each time you connect to GISWEB2!
