Family located everywhere except:

West Indies, Madagascar, Sulawesi, as well as islands to the east. Philippines, New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Anarctiaca, and most oceanic islands.

The family showed up in different areas  at different times

In North America: Oligocene

Europe: Eocene

Asia: Olgocene

Africa: Pliocene

South America: late Pliocene

Striped Skunk is found through all of the 48 states

The skunk range doesn't extend into the most arid parts of the southwest

Its range goes into Canada and extends south into Mexico

Species has been recorded at elevations of up to 13,800 feet. Normally Found from Sea Level to no more than 6,000 feet. 

Poor suited habitats are areas where the water table is high and will flood there dens
