Mating Season changes dependent upon the area that the particular squirrel is found. 

For red squirrels that live in warm climates there are two different mating seasons

These occur in mid-summer and in winter

For red squirrels that live in cold climates there is only one breeding season that takes place in late winter

Females give birth to 3-7 babies

There is a high mortality rate for red squirrels because of the many types of predators that feed on them

Red Squirrels live 2-6 years in the wild and have been known to live up to 15 in captivity
