Subject: Warning to hikers Texas Division of Wildlife -- Alert Warning to all hikers in the upcoming summer season: HOUSTON: The Texas Division of Wildlife is issuing a warning to hikers in the Big Bend area after the near-fatal mauling of three hikers this past weekend. The group had been hiking in the mountains around Pinecrest Ridge when they were apparently attacked by a mountain lion. The injured hikers managed to limp back, bleeding, to a ranger station. All were covered with scratches and bite marks; one was catatonic while his friends were in shock, too traumatized to do anything more than dazedly repeat "No --." However, the party had a camera; apparently one of the hikers managed to photograph the beast as it charged the hapless group.
