Activities

History Club:  The History Club involves students who have an interest in history.  Participants need not be history majors, just students with the curiousity to know more about the past.  Previous activities have included field trips, guest speakers, and films.  If you want more information, please contact, Dr. Suzanne Ament, the history club advisor in the Department of History.

History Day: Since 1996, Radford University has hosted the District Three Competition in the Virginia State History Day Competition.  Students from area middle schools and high schools submit projects based on the annual theme and winners advance to the state history day competition at Williamsburg.  For additional information, please contact Dr. Mike Montgomery in the Department of History.

Marshall Scholars: Since 1997, Radford University students have been invited to participate in the Marshall Undergraduate Scholars Program, which is conducted by the George C. Marshall Library in Lexington, Virginia.  Students selected for the program develop major research papers based on original research conducted at the Marshall Library.  The Marshall Undergraduate Scholars program is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing graduate school or other advanced study.  For more information, contact Dr. Matt Oyos in the Department of History.
