MAHALAPURUM

ON THE SOUTH EAST COAST OF INDIA

 

These ancient Hindu temples were carved out of solid rock between the 6th and 8th century, CE

 

 

The inside of these cave temples depict scenes from classical Hindu mythology.

 

 

Both left and right faces of this wall highlight a story of the God Krishna depicted at center left with a serpent's body and framed with the background of a cobra's head.
