Opening a Checking Account

Students may find it more convenient to open a checking account at a Radford city bank than to depend upon making long distance transactions at a hometown bank. However, most Radford area merchants will accept a student's personal check from an out-of-town or out-of-state bank as long as a valid university I.D. card is shown. There are seven financial institutions in Radford which serve the students of the university. They are First American Federal Savings Bank, BB & T,  Suntrust Bank, First National Bank of Christiansburg, Blue Ridge Bank, Bank of America and Wachovia. 

Automatic teller machines (ATM), located on Fairfax Street, Muse Hall, and in Dalton Hall, accept ATM cards which belong to the MOST network. 

In addition, the University Bookstore in Dalton Hall will accept personal checks for the amount of purchase. The bookstore also accepts Master Card/Visa.
