Scottish Foundation of the Virginia Highlands
The Scottish Foundation of the Virginia Highlands is the Scottish heritage and Scottish fellowship organization covering western and south central Virginia. Its goal is to promote and to facilitate enjoyment of the Scottish heritage and the uniqueness of Scottish culture. The Foundation does this by sponsoring and also particpating in Scottish events throughout the region. The Foundation has always been an organization that is open to anyone who has an interest in Scottish culture or is of Scottish/Celtic descent.

From its original nucleus of eight members, the Foundation started out as the Scottish Society of the Virginia Highlands and spent its first year in selecting a group of events, which included: a Tartan Ball, Robert Burns' Nicht and a St. Andrew's night. Over the last 22 years, this small core of people has grown quickly into over 400 members and an exciting program full of Scottish and Celtic events.

The Foundation has been privileged to be involved with the Radford Highlanders Festival at Radford University, an expanding Scottish Highland event. The SFVH attends and participates in other various Scottish games and festivals in the region.

Scottish-American Military Society
The Scottish-American Military Society was founded in North Carolina on April 12, 1981 as a non-profit organization, to preserve and promote Scottish and American Armed Forces customs, traditions and heritage. The Society was founded as a veterans' organization and is composed primarily of veterans of Scottish ancestry who have served, or are serving, in the Armed Forces of the United States and the Commonwealth. Membership is open to honorably discharged veterans or active duty or reserve military persons who have served or are serving with a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, their spouses, senior-level R.O.T.C. cadets and cadets at the service academies. Honorary life memberships are awarded to members who have been awarded the Medal of Honor or the Victoria Cross.
