Housekeeping Services is a people-oriented department. They are responsible for all phases of the cleaning operations within both the Educational and Genearl (E&G) facilities, and within the Auxiliary facilities to include resident halls, student support areas and student apartment complexes. Housekeeping Services provides the University community with a clean, safe, sanitary and attractive environment through effective management of human and financial resources.
The Housekeeping Services unit is divided into three zones of responsbility, each with a dedicated manager. Each zone provides services to all facilities with academic, administrative and student missions. A night shift operation provides service to academic classrooms and laboratories, and to all hallways and stairwells in fifteen facilities. Three Trades Utility Workers (TUWs) provide minor maintenance and repair, including re-lamping, in academic areas from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. The TUWs also are first responders throughout the campus for emergencies which include broken water pipes, plumbing backups, electrical outage, broken windows, lost keys, etc.
