The Impact of Fraternity and Sorority Membership on Students’

Life Goals

By: Princess Clark

Abstract: This presentation will argue that there is a need for greater understanding

and valuing of the impact of fraternity and sorority membership

on educational and life goals. This study compares the life goals

of students who are members of Greek organizations to the life goals of

students who are non-affiliates of Greek organizations. It is hypothesized

that students who are members of Greek organizations have higher life

goals than students who are non-members.  Participants were college

students at a small southeastern university. One hundred fifteen participants

completed an online survey. Preliminary results do not support

the hypothesis. Discussed in the conclusion are the implications of the

findings.
