iPod: Highly recommended
storage capacity - 30 or 60 gigabytes, plenty of room for your own collection as well as Opus X recordings
large screen - not an issue if the piece is titled “Anthropology” by Dizzie Gillespie. If the title is, however, “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 - I. Allegro con brio,” by Ludwig van Beethoven, you’ll need that large screen.
video - any video in Opus X can also be viewed on the iPod, including videos of student and faculty performances.

Click the iPod wheel to visit the Apple Education store, where you can get student pricing (10% off).

iPod iPod shuffle - not recommended

This model is not recommended, because it lacks a screen, making it insufficient for use with Opus X Which iPod? iPod nano: also acceptable, but not recommended
storage capacity is limited to 1, 2, or 4 gigabytes
screen is much smaller (1.5” diagonal)
no video capability

1 gigabyte of space will hold about 16 hours of music (at the default compression), so 4 gigs will hold only around 65 CD’s worth of music. You may end up having to shuffle around your own music to make room for school recordings.
