The fundamentals seem uniform across all pages: html, Flash video, etc. There is great variation in what they do with those basics especially in terms of layout and content. My composited opinion is the fewer ads, the better, but no ads evoke curiousness, and complimentary ads within the page would be effective from the advertisers' standpoint. Just as annoying are the Flash videos or slides that commence without user action. The focal point of the page should also be the focal point of the page, following the same rules within the multimedia its displaying, not point scrolled to halfway down said page. With blank space filling the right of some pages some form of floating may stand an intervening consideration here.
