Radford University - Division of Student Affairs

Radford University Campus Ministers' Association (RUCMA) is the organization for the Campus Ministers or Faculty/Staff Advisors who relate to the student religious organizations at Radford University and which are defined by their denomination or sponsoring organization as a campus ministry. RUCMA shares with Radford University a commitment to the holistic development of persons: spiritually, physically, intellectually, and socially. RUCMA respects the rights of individual religious traditions and individual styles of ministry, nourishes the intellectual dimensions of faith as well as the spiritual dimensions of education; and encourages the service of others, both within Radford University and in the larger community. Further, it encourages spiritual values in a climate of open inquiry. Believing that religious concern is as broad as human need, RUCMA seeks to enhance the quality of community and personal life.

The campus ministers stand in a unique relationship to Radford University. RUCMA exists independently to assist the university in carrying out its educational missions. RUCMA shares a common mission with the University: the education of the whole person.

The nature of campus ministers presupposes a relationship to all parts of the university. Their purpose is to serve the entire university family, transcending divisions, rank, classification, disciplines, and ideologies. However, campus ministers relate to the university through the RU Dean of Students' Office for operational purposes.
