Philanthropy of Delta Zeta

Our national project supported by both collegiate and alumnae chapters is assistance to the speech and hearing impaired. Our national philanthropic projects are Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, California. Gallaudet University is the only four-year liberal arts school in the world devoted wholly to the needs, instruction, and training of young people who are deaf. The House Ear Institute is one of the world's foremost research, teaching, and treatment centers in the field of hearing.

Our Chapter does a 24 hour See-Saw-A-Thon to raise money for this cause. Through the Delta Zeta Foundation, our contributed money raised by all the Delta Zeta chapters across the U.S.  Delta Zeta believes that in supporting this organization we add the gift of financial support and generating awareness to the speech and hearing impaired.

Our Chapter also participates in many other philanthropy's such as Derby Days which is organized by Sigma Chi to help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.  Turkey Trot is held every November and we raise money and donate turkeys to the Women’s Resource Center in Radford for Thanksgiving.

Sound Beginnings is Delta Zetas national philanthropy effort designed to encourage parents of newborns to have their baby’s hearing checked and seek early intervention for any diagnosed hearing loss before six months of age.  We do this by providing an informational video and brochure to local organizations that support women’s and children’s health.

Delta Zeta also supports the Delta Zeta Foundation through individual and chapter contributions.  The mission of the Foundation is to support the educational, leadership, scholastic, and philanthropic programs of the sorority.  The Foundation gives donations to the House Ear Institute and Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
