This is the university concert choir. Numbering between 3543, this choir tours Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic states. Past tours have included a concert tour of Russia in 2000 and 2004. Another concert tour of Russia is planned for January 2007. Radford Singers has been invited for periodic residencies in New Orleans to perform major works such as Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, and the Brahms Requiem with the Louisiana Philharmonic and the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans. Their repertoire consists of music in multiple languages and all historical periods.
Excellent vocal quality, sight-reading skills, and a high level of personal commitment are necessary for admission. Experience in singing foreign languages is a plus. Working on music outside of class and memorization is required.
Returning members must re-audition for each year's membership.
RADFORD CHORAL UNION
Each spring all of the university ensembles combine to form the Radford Choral Union. They perform choral master works for large ensemble such as Haydn's Creation, Mozart Missa solemnis, K. 337 and works for antiphonal choirs from the Renaissance by composers such as Gabrieli and Schütz.
