All lessons are scheduled by arrangement. If for some reason, the professor is not available for a scheduled lesson time, the lesson will be made up at the mutual convenience of the student and Mr. Castonguay. If a student cancels a lesson due to illness, every effort will be made to make up the lesson time.

The lessons provide their most direct benefit to the student when there is a consistent level of preparation on a weekly basis. Students are expected to fulfill the following outside of the weekly lesson:
Grades for applied voice are a combination of weekly work and the final jury which is held during on the first day of final exams.
50% of the final grade is the average of grades awarded by the jury
50% of the final grade is awarded by the professor as earned by the student in the following manner:
Please note, that these are MINIMUM requirements. The teacher reserves the right to assign additional literature for grade.
Level 1 Four songs memorized in two languages English and Italian recommended
Level 2 Five songs memorized in two languages English and Italian recommended
Level 3 Six songs memorized in three languages English, Italian, French, or German
Level 4 Six songs memorized in three languages English, Italian, French, or German
Screening jury - advisor must be present at final
Level 5 & 6 Seven songs memorized in three languages English, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian or German
Level 7 Eight songs memorized in three languages English, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian or German
Level 8 nine songs memorized in three languages
Two songs will be prepared completely by each student in every level and presented in voice class 2 weeks prior to the final jury.English, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian or German
Since artistic performance of songs and arias requires the acquisition of facility in all of the aspects noted above, it can not be accomplished in a brief period of time. Therefore, there are a series of intermediate deadlines which allow the student to balance the disparate tasks of learning and memorization at a reasonable pace. The deadlines and the resultant grades are listed below.
