Notes:
This is the basic PowerPoint presentation made by Dr. Skip Watts at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Engineering Geologists (AEG) held in San Jose, California on September 22, 2000.
The actual physical characteristics and effects of the Glacier Point rockslides are described in considerable detail in other publications listed within this report. They will be described in passing here. The focus of this research is to examine possible triggering mechanisms for the Glacier Point rockslides.
The results of this research are to be submitted for additional peer review and publication in Environmental and Engineering Geoscience, the official combined journal of the Association of Engineering Geologists and the Engineering Geology section of the Geological Society of America.
In this presentation, the terms rockslide and rockfall are used interchangeably only because the events discussed here have characteristics of both types of movement.
